Everyone has runaway thoughts and thoughts will never go away. Even when you meditate or try to, they are always there either ticking along gently or going nineteen to the dozen. A famous Bhuddist Guru once told someone who wanted to stop their thoughts when they were meditating "your thoughts will stop and that's when you die!" so it's perfectly acceptable.
But sometimes these thoughts can stop us doing what we want or having a good time or being confident. Negative thoughts of "I can't" or "I shouldn't" or even when meeting new people "everyone else is so confident I can't do this". This is when you need as I tell many clients to "have a word with yourself" what thoughts are going through your head are they "correct?" are those people in the room that you've just met and they've just met you really confident or are they thinking the same as you? Who says you can or can't do? You're the only person who can decide that and when your thoughts are running away like a crazy horse galloping, you can pull on the reins and say "whooooahh" what's going on here let's just take a step back.
I've met many lovely clients whose thoughts are holding them back giving them lack of esteem, don't let this happen to you.
You are far stronger and powerful than you think just keep an eye on these thoughts, take a deep breath and get some perspective.
